ACE3 is essentially an overhaul to the Arma system and adds a lot of new features to make the game more user-friendly. It’s such a game-changer, in fact, that many consider it to be an essential mod for Arma 3. From performance enhancements to more consistent and less glitchy 3D model interactions, it really does take the game to the next level.

It’s an excellent example of how a positive community can totally improve the elements of a game without the need for developer input. It even added grabbing and dragging objects to the game and a number of realistic elements that make the game considerably more immersive.

11 DayZ

DayZ is the classic survival simulation where players can fight AI zombies in single-player or multiplayer modes. It’s possible to freeze or starve to death, although most players tend to die at the hands of other players. You’re given limited ammo in a huge map, and you never know if the player you run into wants to kill you for your loot or work together in order to survive.

The DayZ mod introduced a lot of the mechanics found in the survival genre today, such as a food and temperature meters. It’s a little crazy to think that were it not for Arma 3 and its dedicated modding community, the entire genre might look very different than it does today.

7 Turkish Guitar

Another cool mod for Arma 3 is the Turkish Guitar mod. Once installed and equipped, your character will sit down right where they are and play a little ditty on a Turkish guitar. If you wanted to break the tension in Arma while wandering around the wasteland, it’s a good add on for a little humor, or something different to do that not everyone else is going to have.

It’s definitely a case of the more the merrier though, as when playing with a group of people with the mod installed, it’s possible to make a little music circle and jam. There are also other guitar mods available such as a standard classical acoustic, so there’s no need to limit yourself to a single style of music.

In a much earlier part of our history, we find Verdun. A realistic, first-person shooter that takes place during World War I, between 1914 and 1918. Infamous for its hellish barrages of brutal artillery, chemical gas attacks, and lethal close-quarter encounters, Verdun doesn’t shy away from any of it, showing the true horrors of World War I in its fullest.

Squad is what happens when Arma and Battlefield have a beautiful, little love-child. Developed by the creators of the mod Project Reality for Battlefield 2, Squad is a first-person shooter that combines tactics and communication in an intense fast-paced action setting.

What makes Squad awesome:

2 Movable Target Range

This is a handy little target practice mode that lets you fine tune your aim. The Movable Target Range mod can be especially useful if you need to learn the range of a specific gun, including any recreation or vintage accurate gun mods that you happen to add into the game.

The mod is also a great way to improve your aim in general. If you’re looking to change your position to sniper but don’t quite have the skills to handle a rifle just yet, for example, you can certainly acquire them here. It’s highly customizable too, allowing you to move shooters or other AI target assets wherever you want with a simple flick of the cursor.

Do you remember Command & Conquer: Renegade? It was a daring attempt from Westwood Studios to cross the genres of RTS (Real-Time Strategy), and FPS (First-person shooter) back in the early 2000s. Well, Call to Arms picks up the torch, but does so in a more polished and streamlined fashion, adding on top of it another layer with TPS (third-person shooter), blending between the three genres of top-down strategy and shooters seamlessly. Oh, and by the way, it’s free to play, so what are you waiting for?
What makes Call To Arms awesome:

Escape From Tarkov

Escape From Tarkov is an exciting mix of several genres. It’s a not just a hardcore, tactical FPS, it’s also an RPG and an MMO at the same time. With realistic damage models, in-game trading, PVP and PVE, the entire region of Tarkov is open to you as a mercenary. Raid, kill, steal and loot before escaping with your newly acquired gear. It’s amazing, and a personal favorite of mine!
What makes Escape From Tarkov awesome:

Raid enemy players or AI’s with friends to steal their loot.
High-risk, high-reward. Put your newfound loot on the line in combat.
Trade with other players, or set up trading posts of your own.

Spotted him: Watch yourself in Tarkov. Enemies (both real and AI) can be everywhere.

Cover me: Join up with your friends to take down enemies and steal their loot.

5 Fireworks Gun

Another cool animation mod, Fireworks Gun allows players to send out big fireworks whenever you shoot from a vehicle. The mod can be seen by players who didn’t download it too, so it can be a great way to freak other players out if they don’t yet know what to expect.

It’s also good for celebrating big events like the 4th of July or New Year’s Eve, by shooting out lots of spectacular fireworks. As it happens though, they’re far more deadly than regular fireworks and so should be handled extra carefully when set off near friends. When surrounded by enemies, however, they can serve as an excellent substitute for bullets.

1 Aftermath

If you love the Fallout series then this mod is definitely for you. Aftermath is a post-apocalyptic nuclear fallout reskin of Arma 3 and the attention to detail is really quite astounding. Granted, it is a little rough around the edges in places, but those familiar with the source material should be used to this by now.

Much like what Fallout 76 tried to be, this mod allows you to make your own vault and choose a faction to work for or against in either a co-op or single-player campaign. It’s one of the most detailed reskins you can find for Arma 3 on steam and a great way to experience this excellent game in a brand new way.

Insurgency: Sandstorm

Insurgency is raw, it’s fast, and it’s up close and personal. With a focus on intense close-quarter combat, this team-based shooter pits two teams against each other in small, almost claustrophobic deathmatch scenarios. As you feel the force and power that comes with firing your rifle at your enemy, you will also feel the fear that comes with taking fire when they shoot back at you.

What makes Insurgency: Sandstorm awesome:

16 vs 16 players in tight, action-packed maps.
Emphasis on team-based combat in close-quarters.
Deep character and weapon customization.

9 Metal Gear Solid

Although rumors about a Metal Gear Solid remake continue to circulate, there’s still no official word from Konami on whether such a project is actually in development. While this will no doubt come as a disappointment to fans of Kojima’s groundbreaking series, they can at least take some comfort in the knowledge that a remake of the game does exist in some capacity.

The creator of the Arma 3 Metal Gear Solid mod put in a lot of meticulous detail with the modding tools they had at their disposal for this single-player adventure. The AI can be a real pain, however, as the two games don’t always match up in style. A lack of cover will lead to a number of resets, which, although plentiful, are not common enough that your progress will be hindered too badly.

The Division 2

Division 2 is an open-world, fast-paced, third-person, cover-shooter RPG. Phew, that was quite a mouthful, huh? Containing a campaign mode, coop with PvE as well as team-based PvP, the game offers a wide variety of ways to expand on both your inventory, skills, and weapons in lots of intense shootouts.
What makes The Division 2 awesome:

Take on a large campaign running through the capital of Washington DC.
Collect and combine loot to increase your skills and abilities.
Broad possibilities for seasoned players with lots of endgame content.

Take cover: Dive behind concrete blocks and burned-out tanks to stay out of harm’s way.

Ghost Recon: Wildlands

Offering a high amount of freedom in terms of choice for how the player wants to approach a mission, it is a gem of a game for the tactical gamer who doesn’t enjoy linearity.
What makes Ghost Recon: Wildlands awesome:
